New research affirms the impact of Arkki’s learning approach -Creative Growth Through Playful Projects! 🤩
Master´s Thesis “Design Studio Learning for Developing Creative Skills in Children: Insights from Arkki Türkiye by @laradivris (2023, ITU)
has confirmed what Arkki has always believed: creative learning through hands-on project work and play can significantly boost children’s creativity.

What the research revealed:

🎨 Children became more confident, imaginative, and empathetic.
🤝 Playfulness boosted collaboration and hands-on exploration.
🧠 The longer the participation, the stronger the progress.
“When children learn through making and imagining, they develop essential skills for the future,” says Divriş.

The study, completed at Istanbul Technical University, followed 88 children aged 6–11 who participated in Arkki Türkiye workshops 2021- 2023. Using a custom-designed Creative Development Measurement Scale, the research tracked development in core 21st-century skills like creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking.

By blending purposeful project work with playful discovery, Arkki provides an engaging environment where children grow both creatively and personally.
As creativity becomes one of the most valued global skills, this research reinforces Arkki’s role as a leader in creative education—helping children build not only models, but mindsets for the future.

Arkki’s model demonstrates how design, imagination, and play can shape not only what children know—but how they think, feel, and relate to the world around them. 💚

During the event, distinguished speakers reflected on the past years and the importance of creative education, including the Ambassador of Finland, Furkan Demirci, Chairman of The Board - and Furkan Filiz, Board Member of Türkiye Design Council, Pihla Meskanen, Founder CEO of Arkki International, and Prof. Dr. Gülname Turan, İstanbul Technical University.

Arkki’s journey in Turkey started in Istanbul three years ago in collaboration with @turkiyetasarimvakfi . Since then, Arkki has grown to reach over 4,000 children in 19 cities across the Marmara region and beyond. In 2024, Arkki’s footprint in Turkey expanded further with our new team in Ankara, operated by Hapiterra Tasarım Mimarlık, in the Central Anatolia region.

In just three years, we’ve witnessed incredible projects and remarkable growth. The interest in Arkki’s creative programs is spreading across Turkey, thanks to the dedication of our two amazing teams and the unwavering support of our local partners. Together, we’re inspiring a new generation of creative thinkers.

While today we celebrate how far we’ve come, we’re also looking ahead to an exciting future. Our vision is to expand to new regions, reaching even more children and equipping them with the tools and skills to grow into responsible, creative, and active citizens. Creativity, design thinking, and sustainability will always remain at the heart of everything we do.

Arkki’s philosophy is grounded in the Finnish educational system, known worldwide for its student-centered approach, emphasis on creativity, and experiential learning. We believe that every child has the potential to create and innovate when given the right environment and opportunities. Our goal is to nurture critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration—essential skills for the future.
